Departure week means a lot of running around doing last minute preparations. Full provisioning for food, last minute repairs, checks all around to make sure everything is in working order, and one last big cleaning spree to start the passage fresh. It's been a busy busy week, but we are finally off for the Caribbean! The format of this blog will change for the time being, with daily updates. See you on the other side!
12/1/24 Day 2
Despite a slow start last night as we stayed in the wind shadow of La Palma, the calm does not go unappreciated. Sailing is easy, life is comfortable, and we’re sailing right on the rhumbline towards Antigua. The past week I’ve been dreaming of eating some nice mahi mahi tacos, and today that wish got granted with a perfect size specimen around eight pounds, enough for three nice meals for the three of us. We’ve flown the code 5 for a good part today, but have now reduced canvas in anticipation for some stronger wind and thunderstorms.
